The short version.
Quest4Self stores the account you create and the habits you track. We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, we don't use advertising or tracking SDKs, and we don't track you across other apps or websites. Your quests are yours — nobody else sees them. Ask us to delete your account and everything goes.
1. Who we are
Quest4Self is a habit-tracking mobile app. This policy explains what we collect through the app and through this website, why, and what control you have. Questions or requests: support@quest4self.com.
2. What we collect
Account information
When you create an account we store your email address and a display name. This is linked to your identity — it is how we know which data is yours and how we contact you about your account.
Your habit data
The content you create in the app: the Quests you're building, the Shadows you're shedding, the Feats and Stumbles you record against them, along with any notes and the dates and times of each entry. This is linked to your account.
Support correspondence
If you email us, we keep the message and your address so we can reply and follow up.
3. What we don't collect
- No advertising identifiers, ad networks, or ad targeting.
- No tracking of you across other companies' apps or websites, for any purpose.
- No location, contacts, photos, health, or fitness data.
- No purchase history, browsing history, or search history from outside the app.
- We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
4. Who can see your data
- You. Your quests, Feats, and Stumbles are visible only to you. The app has no sharing, no social feed, and no public profiles.
- Service providers. We use infrastructure vendors to host the app and its database, and to send account email. They process data only on our instructions, and only to run the service.
- Legal. We will disclose data if we're legally required to, or where it's necessary to protect someone's safety or our rights. We are a small operation, not a data broker; nobody else gets your data.
5. How we use it
To run the app: to authenticate you, store and sync what you track, show your trail back to you, and deliver reminders and notifications you turn on. To support you: to answer your emails and fix bugs. To keep things working: to investigate errors, abuse, and security problems.
6. Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your data for as long as your account exists. There's no advantage to us in hoarding it.
To delete your account and everything in it, email support@quest4self.com from the address on your account, or use the delete option in the app's settings. We remove your account and your habit data within 30 days. Encrypted backups may take up to a further 90 days to age out, after which the data is gone from those too. We keep only what we're legally required to keep.
You can also ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or object to how we're handling it. Same address, and we'll respond within 30 days.
7. Security
Data is encrypted in transit, and at rest on our servers. Access is limited to the people who need it to operate the service. No system is perfect; if a breach affects your data, we'll tell you.
8. Age
You need to be 13 or older to create a Quest4Self account — 16 or older in the EEA and the UK, unless a parent or guardian has given permission. The app's content is suitable for all ages, but it isn't built for children, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under those ages. If you believe a child has an account, email us and we'll delete it.
9. Where your data lives
Our servers are in the United States. If you use the app from elsewhere, your data is transferred to and processed there.
A note on the beta. Quest4Self is in beta. Things break, and we may need to reset test data while we're building. Don't put anything in it you couldn't stand to lose or wouldn't want a beta-stage system holding. We'll give notice before any planned reset.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect or how we use it, we'll update this page and the date at the top, and tell you in the app before the change takes effect.
